England’s World Cup campaign kicks off against Iran today (21 November) and has sparked a wave of excitement across the country – but for Prince William and Kate Middleton, it could bring up some unwanted tension.
The Princes and Princess of Wales became embroiled in a row before England’s Euro 2020 final versus Italy because the royal couple couldn’t agree on whether to let Prince George wear his football shirt in support of the Three Lions.
Whilst Kate was reportedly “not so keen” on the young royal showing his passion with the team colours, William was said to be all for it.

Retired French tennis player and 2013 Wimbledon champion, Marion Bartoli, revealed on BBC Radio 5 Live that the pair had disagreed over the matter.
She explained at the time: “Yesterday I had an afternoon tea with the Duchess and it was very much a discussion whether George will be allowed to wear the jersey tonight at Wembley or not.
"William was for it, Kate not so keen, so we'll see."
It appeared that Kate won the duel as the royal was seen suited and booted with a suit and tie matching the one donned by his father.

But since the royals will not be going to Qatar in a row over the country’s appalling human rights record, if George watches the game at home it may be more relaxed as he won’t be representing the royals on an official engagement.
It could see the footie fan, who is a keen supporter of Chelsea FC alongside the England national team, proudly wear an official shirt to cheer on the team.
He has been seen wearing an England shirt before, with Kensington Palace releasing snaps on July 22, 2019, by Kate of her child wearing the national team's jersey.
