THOUSANDS of New Yorkers and San Franciscans are already taking to the streets to show off their beer-guzzling skills and Christmas spirit in today's annual Santacon.
Individuals have been pictured by The U.S. Sun decked out and dressed up as Christmas trees, reindeer, and elves – and even an abominable snowman made an appearance.
New Yorkers who were taking part ranged in age from early twenties to Boomers and were treated to a DJ's remix of Holly Holly Christmas, a dance competition, and "Free Hugs" courtesy of one attendee holding a sign on Saturday morning.
The modern-day SantaCon traces back to a 1974 protest in Copenhagen by a group called Solvognen.
Today, however, Santa Con in NYC is probably one of the most well-known conventions.

Santacon Twitter tells fans to grab lunch
The official Twitter for Santacon NYC urged fans to "refuel" and grab a slice of pizza.
The post read:"Fuel up the reindeer! Stop for lunch. SantaCon will still be there after you eat a nice NYC slice. Skip the garlic knots if you plan to meet someone under the mistletoe later." #SantaConNYC
