A historic ranch in Wyoming with stunning views of the Tetons has hit the market for $39.5 million.

Lost Creek Ranch, a sprawling 50-acre property set in heart of one of the country’s most beautiful national parks, is on sale for the first time in 54 years.

The Jackson Hole property, which currently operates as a guest ranch, boasts a grandiose main lodge, ten cabins, and its own 5,000-sq-ft spa with a heated pool and hot tub.

But even with all the luxuries the ranch offers, it’s the stunning scenery around it which steal the show – with DailyMail.com previously reporting how billionaire ‘cowboys’ are snapping up ranches just like Lost Creek. A picture window inside the main lodge provides an unmatched view of the Tetons, a range famously lauded by Theodore Roosevelt as ‘the first mountains I’ve seen that look like mountains should’.

Latham Jenkins, a broker at Live Water Properties, which is marketing the ranch, told Cowboy State Daily: ‘When you live on a property like Lost Creek, you start to see how important it is to be a great steward of these lands, because you’re only a part of them for a while and then we all pass on.’

He added: ‘These types of properties are extremely scarce around the world, because of the uniqueness of the setting,’ Jenkins said. ‘These are very, very rare holdings.’

Along with the existing amenities, which also include a horse coral, barn and skeet ranges, the property has entitlements to add a 2,500-sq-ft home and a 1,500-sq-ft manager’s home.

The site of the ranch was first homesteaded in the late 1800s. Albert Schwabacher bought the land in 1927 and turned it into a guest ranch.

He was a keen hunter and fisherman, so opted to make the ranch primarily recreational.

The ranch was acquired by the current owners, the Halpin family, in 1968.

Along with the main house, there are ten cabins at the property. The new owner could decide to keep it as a guest ranch or transform it into a private ranch

The ranch is up for sale for the first time in more than five decades

A history of the property on its website says: ‘ The Halpin family became the sole owners of Lost Creek Ranch in 1989.

Over the years, subsequent generations of the Halpin family have brought families together to enjoy the amazing wildlife, scenic beauty and recreational opportunities in Jackson Hole.’

Jerry Halpin, the family’s patriarch who passed away in 2017, also founded the Grand Teton National Park Foundation in 1997. That legacy is now inextricably linked to the land.

Jenkins added: ‘That has now raised since its inception over $110 million to support park initiatives to help ensure the guest experience, much like here at the ranch, is as positive as it can be for the 4-plus million visitors that come through grand Teton National Park.

‘Little do they know the goodwill of others to help ensure that experience in these parks, which are magical and such a treasure in the U.S., and really, you know respected around the world.’

A new owner could continue to operate it as a guest ranch or turn it into a private retreat.

The current guest ranch charges $8,200 per week for a two-person stay or double that for a family of four.

Jenkins said: ‘That price includes three meals a day, as well as all the adventure trips. It’s actually a great value. If you were to try to do all that separately, it would, believe it or not, cost more than that.’
